This Sustainable Development Report covers the 2009 financial year, from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009 (FY09), and reports on the Harmony group’s broader impacts on society.
Prepared in accordance with the G3 guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), this report has been structured to address the three spheres of sustainable development – economic, social and environmental performance – all within the context of good governance and management control.
The economic dimension of sustainability confirms the organisation’s impacts on the economic condition of its stakeholders and on economic systems at local, national and global level.
The social dimension of sustainability concerns the impacts the company has on the social systems in which it operates.
Harmony recognises that the long-term sustainability of its business depends on the way in which the company manages its assets and their impact on surrounding communities and natural environments.
Harmony supports the G3 reporting guidelines Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) and has provided an index of compliance (PDF - 50KB) with the guidelines, and the core performance indicators.
