SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Sustainable Development Committee of the board is responsible for supporting, advising and providing guidance to management on issues pertaining to sustainable development, particularly health and safety, HIV/Aids, social investment and environmental management.

Three non-executive directors make up the Sustainable Development Committee. They are: Modise Motloba (chairman); Joaquim Chissano and Fikile De Buck.

The committee meets on a quarterly basis.

The stated objective of the Sustainable Development Committee is to assist the Board in ensuring that Harmony is and remains a committed socially responsible corporate citizen. The committee’s primary role is to supplement, support, advise and provide guidance on the effectiveness or otherwise of management’s efforts in respect of sustainable development.
