Overview

Harmony has made a positive Final Investment Decision (FID) to develop the Eva Copper Project, marking a major milestone in our copper growth strategy. This is a transformational project for Harmony.

Eva Copper is located in Cloncurry, 75km from the town centre, and near Mount Isa in north west Queensland, on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People.

The FID decision follows a robust update to the project’s feasibility study that has positioned Eva Copper to become Queensland’s largest new mine and Australia’s fourth largest copper mine. The mine is expected to produce around 60 000 tonnes of copper and 14 000 ounces of gold per annum over its currently estimated 15-year mine life.

The Project is designed to lower operational risk through a mechanised, open-pit mining approach. The processing circuit will be a conventional copper concentrator comprising crushing, grinding and flotation, delivering a sought-after copper concentrate for sale.

Supporting regional economies

Harmony is committed to being an active member of North West Queensland. The project presents significant supplier and employment opportunities for the region, expanding to North Queensland. We will prioritise local employment and supplier opportunities in Cloncurry and Mount Isa, where possible.

Outlook for 2026

With financial approval in place, the project is entering an exciting phase. Front-end engineering design is complete, and preliminary site works are well advanced. Construction is expected to take up to 30 months. First production is targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year.

Community investment

We are developing the Eva Copper Community Investment Framework to establish a structured, transparent, and consistent approach for creating shared social value. The framework is being shaped through community consultation to ensure it aligns with local expectations and needs.

First Nations opportunities

A major project stakeholder is the Kalkadoon People, the Traditional Owners of the land on which the Eva Copper Project sits.

Our relationships with the Kalkadoon People and other First Nations communities are centred on respecting culture and creating employment and business opportunities. Our approach to construction and operations prioritises robust cultural heritage practices, in close collaboration with the Kalkadoon People.
