Tshepong South (Phakisa) began production in 2008 and reached full production in June 2011. The mine, a single barrel, moderate to deep-level, conventional underground operation, exploits the Basal Reef with the B Reef mined as a high-grade secondary reef. Ore mined is transported via a railveyor system to the Nyala shaft, from where it is hoisted to surface and transported to the Harmony One plant for processing.
