Alwyn was appointed to the board on 15 October 2026. He has 30 years of operational, project and corporate experience in the mining industry, globally and in South Africa.

Alwyn served as Managing Director in Papua New Guinea, and prior to that he held the roles of Regional Senior Vice President in South America and Africa respectively at Newmont Corporation. Before joining Newmont in 2016, he was Chief Operating Officer for Harmony’s South African operations from 2014 and served as Health and Safety Executive in South Africa from 2011. He joined Harmony in 2003 with the merger with African Rainbow Minerals where he held various operational roles. Alwyn also served as Chair and Director on the Board of Mines Rescue Services (Pty) Ltd for four years from 2011.
